The Story of the 6th Marine Officer's Basic Class of 1967See Leatherneck ReviewThe Vietnam War was a war like no other in American history, fought in a place few Americans had heard of or could locate on a world map. Yet, this is where the United States suffered enormous loss of life. In
Class of '67 former Marine lieutenant Jack Wells introduces us to 44 Marine lieutenants, his classmates in Marine Officer Basic Class 6-67, who died for their country -- 43 in Vietnam and the 44th, Marine Colonel Rich Higgins, who was kidnapped by terrorists in 1988 in the Middle East, tortured and killed.
This is not a pro-war book, but a tribute and a memorial to these young men whose futures were cut short when they put country before self and volunteered to go to war. Each of the men have a short chapter devoted to their lives and their deaths. The book is one man's way of thanking friends and fellow officers, and their family members, for living their lives with valor, dignity and self-sacrifice.
